Controversy amid the calm
A small sculpture such as Raft Of Dreams (2002) is a delicate construction made from thin strands of brass. It looks like the remains of a makeshift shelter, still standing upright. Wall Harp (1991) is a musical instrument that appears to have grown on a tree and been equipped with a set of strings. The tiny trees in Wind In The Trees (2006) are flat-topped umbrellas with a uniform, industrial dimension. In such pieces the natural world and the man-made environment are inextricably wedded. .

Radio Talk
And, even though the statement is altogether wrong, commercially successful morning talk shows with a sense of humor featuring a group of people who don't take themselves too seriously are dead in Atlanta. We're no better than you, the listener, and we never pretended to be. Note I say we because after a year on-air and after being fired, I feel I've earned the proper pronoun. The listener is just another member of the show, the gang, the group of pals. I felt that way in my teens and early 20s when I listened to Stern, and I felt that way two weeks ago when I was doing Michael McDonald during Regular Guys Squares. The next morning show to be embraced by so many non-specific ethnicities without an entitlement mentality to be successful in this city will deserve the moniker “shock jocks? because it'll be shocking to see such a thing actually happen.
WCSC bought by Alabama media company
The high bidder for South Carolina's oldest continually operating television station will be bearing a pro-Alabama agenda when it takes ownership next year. MBA-types might call it synergy. Others might call it shilling. For David Bronner, it's his way of investing some $30 billion on behalf of Alabama's 314,000 working and retired state employees. Bronner, who has a doctorate in finance and is a self-described government bureaucrat, has the title of CEO of the Retirement Systems of Alabama. But he's also a big cheerleader for the Heart of Dixie, where he has worked shrewdly to leverage some of the pension money he oversees to improve the economy and image. One of his unorthodox ventures include a string of Alabama golf courses. His agency also has funded the development of resorts and hotels.
