Lots of work and preparation goes into annual Bristol race
Coeburn, Va., native Danny O'Quinn Jr. (No. 50 Stonebridge Ford) has been making a move in the rookie rankings as well. O'Quinn comes to Bristol in third place, his highest standing since he was also third following the Phoenix race in April. He was fifth - 22 points out of first - following the June race at Nashville. He sits 11 points behind Andretti and only five in back of Lamar. O'Quinn jumped from 20th in the driver point standings to 17th following the Michigan race. .
Surging Dairy Prices Cheer Some Farmers, Sour Consumers
So too has Europe's proverbial sea of surplus milk. The much-maligned mountain of extra butter is also gone. Such positive developments have even encouraged the European Commission to consider reforming Europe's bloated agricultural policies further. EU Agriculture Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel wants to increase the bloc's milk quotas, which have been frozen in place for years. The intention is to push along the decision made by EU agriculture ministers to do away with the convoluted quota system that regulates Europe's milk production. But the quotas will only be completely eliminated in 2015. While that might not seem very ambitious, at least the basic laws of supply and demand have been reestablished for the first time since the regulations for the milk market were implemented in 1968.
Blog Posts related to File Sharing
As online music retailers have been pointing out for years, DRM has only held back the authorized downloading services in their efforts to compete against the unauthorized world of P2P file sharing. This isn't quite the end of DRM on digital music, however. The last hold out is DRM on subscription services like Rhapsody and Napster. Some have argued that DRM is necessary for the subscription business model, an argument that I think doesn't hold up under scrutiny. After all, anyone with any motivation can convert their Rhapsody "streams" into downloads, DRM notwithstanding. So it's not the DRM that keeps people paying their monthly subscription bills -- it's convenience, inventory, and other features that add value to the experience (DRM, on the other hand, is about subtracting value from the fan's experience).
Romney says would balance US budget in "few years"
The U.S. budget deficit has fallen for three years as higher incomes and capital gains helped tax receipt growth outstrip spending increases. But most economists say the string of declines from a record $413 billion deficit in 2004 may be coming to an end as a housing slump takes its toll on the U.S. economy, putting the brake on revenues that had already begun to slow.
